Surface Mount (often abbreviated as SMT, which stands for Surface Mount Technology) is a method used in electronic assembly and manufacturing. In SMT, electronic components are mounted or placed directly onto the surface of a printed circuit board (PCB) as opposed to through-hole components, which are inserted into holes in the PCB. This method has become the standard in modern electronics manufacturing for various reasons, including its efficiency, space-saving capabilities, and the ability to automate the assembly process.
